Merlot at its best shows a tremendous range of aromas, from bright, gregarious cherries and raspberries to smoky, sultry cigar-in-a-jazz-club tones. This newest Merlot release shows that full range of aromas. While the tannins are without question completely soft and ready to enjoy, the flavors in the mid palate offer every reason to slow down and savor the moment. The bright cherry aromas turn into the flavor and texture of just-pressed cherry juice. Equally, the darker tones of toasty oak, tobacco and anise suggest that this will gladly accompany anything from traditional fare to dishes with a bit of spice or unusual combinations of flavors. While delightful now, this wine will age beautifully, as well.
